Why choose a lionhead?

Manageable

Lionheads are a dwarf breed, making them ideal for new pet owners. They are not as strong as medium-large breeds like Flemish Giant, Rex, and Silver Fox, and are easier to maintain. With smaller bodies, they have less muscle and can't wiggle their way out of your arms as easy.

Tame and friendly

Lionheads are calm, affectionate, and friendly. They love attention, and bond well with humans, making them great pets!

Small and compact

They are a dwarf breed, meaning that they are smaller then a Rex or a Californian. They would be a better choice if you live in an apartment. They can have slightly smaller cages, as long as they get run time. They may be smaller, but they still need exercise just as much as any other bunny.

Eat less

Being small, lionheads will not eat as much as a bigger bunny. I have had a Silver Fox mix before, and she ate about a cup of pellets a day, while lionheads eat about 1/4-1/3 of a cup of pellets daily.

Smart and playful

Lionheads are very smart and fairly easy to litter train! They are good problem solvers. They love to pick things up and throw them, jump in the air, and move things. Lionheads love to climb on top of things and hop around. They love to run and play, but when they are finished, they are calm and ready to be petted.
